Eastern Trip: New York City

After waking in the middle of the night to a big rainstorm, we awoke early to get to the Statue of Liberty. What an awesome experience!

We even paid the extra little fee to hike to the top of the crown. Inside we climbed a squishy, spiral staircase of 188 steps. Out one window we could see the tablet in her arm and out another we could kind of see the torch.

This is one thing I can now scratch off my bucket list!

After some time with Lady Liberty, we ferried to Ellis Island. I don't know much about this place, just that it's where immigrants came into our country. I'll be reading more about this at home.

We then split up for the rest of the day. J took the older four kids into New York City while I headed back to Liberty State Park for a quiet afternoon with the boys in the RV.  The older kids really wanted to see Time's Square and Central Park. They also saw the Manhattan Temple and stumbled upon the Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklynn's dream!).

Meanwhile, at the RV we ate lunch and then the boys watched a movie while Donovan and I took naps. :) The New York group made it back not too late and we headed to our campsite for the night.
As we pulled into the secluded campground, we saw colored disco lights and heard music blaring. Little did we know a karaoke party was going on, an annual event here!  Nothing like going to sleep with bad drunk singing in the background! ;-)

All in all, a good day!
